Informed, Affirmed, and Empowered
At Tender Transitions, we believe that every pregnancy and birth experience is unique. We aim to step outside the confines of traditional pregnancy and birth narratives and honor the full spectrum of experiences. Pregnancy can be exciting, terrifying, wanted, unwanted, natural, complicated, and everything in between.

Whether you’re simply looking for support through an uncomplicated pregnancy, facing unexpected health challenges or barriers to care, or navigating a complex pregnancy and birth, we are here to provide you with compassionate support from pregnancy through the postpartum period. Our intention is to create a space where each person feels heard, informed, and empowered as you navigate this life experience. The care we provide honors each person's unique path, choices, and the fullness of their lived experiences.

Our Care Model

Gender Inclusive and Culturally Responsive
Tender Transitions honors and embraces the full spectrum of people who can become pregnant. With a deep respect for all identities, doula support is available to transgender, non-binary, and gender-diverse individuals, people of all races, folks with disabilities, and families of various faith backgrounds. We believe that every pregnancy and birthing journey is valid, worthy, and deserving of compassionate care, no matter what you or your family looks like, what you believe, or the empowered choices you make about your pregnancy and birth.

Empowerment Model
Tender Transitions is rooted in an empowerment-based model of care. This model aims to gently restore a sense of autonomy, uplift your choices, and support the deep inner knowledge you already carry. This approach trusts that every person is the expert of their own body, their own journey, and their own story.
Trauma Informed
Recent medical and sociological research shows the profound impact trauma can have on our health and experiences moving through the world.
A trauma-informed approach recognizes these effects and emphasizes understanding how past experiences shape behavior, emotions, and perceptions. Our goal is to create an environment that is sensitive, responsive, and supportive of those affected by trauma.
In childbirth, this means acknowledging pregnancy and birth may trigger or exacerbate past trauma. By prioritizing safety, respect, and autonomy, a trauma-informed environment fosters emotional well-being and empowers individuals to make informed choices throughout their birth journey.
